Flor de Caña opens registrations in UK for the Sustainable Cocktail Challenge 2024

Sustainable mixology enthusiasts can join this platform to compete for the title of national champion and then participate in the Global Final.

Flor de Caña Rum, the world’s first Carbon Neutral and Fair-Trade certified spirit, has announced the opening of registrations for the Sustainable Cocktail Challenge 2024, a unique platform that aims to inspire and promote sustainable mixology among the global bartender community to collectively build a greener future.

Bartenders in the United Kingdom looking to showcase their talent and creativity crafting sustainable cocktails can sign up for the competition between 1st April and 30th June by visiting www.flordecanachallenge.com and following a few simple steps. The site includes detailed information about the criteria, guidelines, and competition conditions.

The initiative invites bars and bartenders to create sustainable cocktails with Flor de Caña Rum and using sustainable ingredients and techniques. In addition to being available on the menu for consumers to enjoy, these original cocktail creations will participate in a contest that will award the best sustainable cocktail in the country. The winning bars and bartenders from each country will then qualify to participate in the Global Final of the Sustainable Cocktail Challenge, which will take place in exotic Nicaragua in 2025.

Through this platform, Flor de Caña will also work closely with bar managers and bartenders in an educational effort to highlight the importance and benefits of adopting sustainable practices in their daily operations. For this effort, the brand is collaborating with the Sustainable Restaurant Association, a UK-based nonprofit organization promoting sustainability in bars and restaurants, who will provide resources and guidance to participants.

In the Global Final of the Sustainable Cocktail Challenge 2023, Julie Nguyen from Opium Bar in Thailand emerged as the champion, followed by Andrea Marseglia from Teresa Cocktail Bar in New Zealand in second place, and Lacey-Jane Roberts from Published on Main Bar in Canada in third place.

Over 30 countries participate in the Sustainable Cocktail Challenge, which is a celebration of Flor de Caña’s historical commitment to sustainability and a way to share and promote these values with the global bartender community. In addition to being the world’s first Carbon Neutral and Fair-Trade certified rum, it is distilled using 100% renewable energy, and all CO2 emissions generated during fermentation are captured and recycled. The brand has also planted one million trees since 2005.
